It may be April Fool’s Day, but by all accounts, this video is real. The master of transparency, Julian Assange, must have discovered that turnabout is fair play when this video of him dancing at an Iceland club was leaked to the ‘net. This guy knows how to get down! Obama has his OWN computer
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/Ogok3cKxxvM/
In the latest installment of “Snappy Answers to Silly Questions,” Barack Obama explains to the Univision anchor that not only does he have an iPad, but he has, in fact, his own computer. No, the President of the United States of America doesn’t have to borrow somebody else’s computer to check his e-mail. Check out the video after the click.

Climbing the Burj Khalifa
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/1L6ug6hw6Mk/
If you’ve got a fear of heights, it’s probably best to stop reading now. You definitely won’t want to watch this video of Alain Robert, who’s made a name for himself scaling skyscrapers around the world, climbing the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. 828m up, he manages a smile — I think most people would’ve just fainted. “Angry Birds” the movie trailer
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/exE1FJE9TS0/
Rooster Teeth, the noted machinima studio behind the long-running series Red vs. Blue, have decided to add some action to a game much more casual than their usual fare. They’ve made an impressive live action trailer for “Angry Birds,” convincingly importing a collection of action and military movie cliches into the mechanics of the game. “Angry Birds” fans are out in force for it too, racking up millions of views in the few days since its posting. “Friday,” as interpreted by bad lip readers
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/plz8tNImmt4/
With any luck, this is the last video about that stupid Rebecca Black song that’s ever worth posting. But yesterday was Thursday, tomorrow is Saturday, and this video is too funny not to spread through the world. Here’s “Friday,” the song we all know and love, as interpreted (and then re-recorded) by bad lip readers. With the power of the subtitled suggestion, it really looks like she’s singing these lyrics which, at times, are more ridiculous that the original. Check out the video after the click.

Nonsense on air
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/Cdtp_U08ZRg/
It must be difficult to speak on live television today. All of the anxieties of speaking in front of a large and unseeable audience, multiplied by the knowledge that whatever you do will be preserved forever on sites like YouTube. That’s exactly what happened to this Toronto reporter, who must be new to the teleprompter. One can only imagine how scary these 15 seconds were for him. Check out the video after the click.

Don’t steal computers that belong to people who know how to use computers
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/5Bti73OAgZ4/
Sure, the title should be shortened to “Don’t steal computers,” because it’s almost always a bad idea to do that. But then, it’s a really bad idea to steal a computer from somebody who is a famous developer, and then an even worse idea to record videos of you dancing on that computer. That’s what the thief shown in this video did, and when the developer recovered the files (remotely, of course) he posted them to YouTube to maximize the embarrassment of the thief. The thief has since returned the laptop, and asked for the video to be taken down, but according to the owner, he’s in no position to negotiate. Check the video after the click.

One Man Disney Movie
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/zAbUOwyU_qI/
Disney’s got a special power over people. For generations, their films have defined what a children’s movie should be, and the songs and words have been internalized by millions of children. Nick Pitera, an animator at Pixar, must have been one such child, and his “One Man Disney Movie” is an impressive testament to that fact. Nick sings six different roles, each one comprising a handful of characters, in a well choreographed and neatly presented package. Watch the video after the click.

“Friday” cover by Matt Mulholland
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/7ccJLYPHGqA/
On the Friday of a week where the viral videosphere was dominated by a song called, incidentally, “Friday,” how can we think about anything else? This cover by Matt Mulholland ensures that we cannot. While the original was lambasted for the lack of emotion on the part of the singer, this dark twist will take no such criticism. Check out the video after the click.

“Mario” Trailer
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/VsfeGpVkY4I/
Even the lowliest form of cinematic art — the “superhero movie” — can be redeemed by a good, dark origin story. “The Dark Knight” was considered for Best Picture nominations, and “Casino Royale,” which gave Bond fans a look into the hero’s sad past, was considered the best 007 film in years. This week in Austin, the South by Southwest film festival is happening, and in a promotional move, a team of film makers decided to imagine Mario, the protagonist of so many Nintendo games, getting the same treatment. “Friday,” performed by Bob Dylan
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/6Hn68R-LVbo/
As so often happens on the internet, last week saw an unusual piece of media — in this case a bizarrely bad teen pop single called “Friday” by previously unknown Rebecca Black — absolutely explode in popularity. The auto-tune, the inane text, the blank expression on the performers’ faces, all conspired to make this one a hit. And so the parodies started coming. There have been plenty of covers and responses, but none has been so pitch perfect as this video, which suggests that the song was actually originally performed by Bob Dylan. Hacking video screens in Times Square
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/ub_Ri5fudTA/
The creator of this video will need to produce a bit more documentation before the internet crowd stops calling fake, but it appears to documents a team of two overriding the video screens in Times Square with images beamed directly from an iPhone. This is either some seriously impressive hacking — unlikely — or some handy camerawork and post production. In either case, it’s worth watching! Check out the video after the click.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off recut trailer
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/Afk8u1F2mrE/
It’s no secret that most of the movies coming out of Hollywood these days are pretty derivative: prequels, sequels, adaptations, remakes, re-imaginings, and spin-offs abound. So why not just use the footage itself from an earlier movie? This recut trailer imagines the 1980s classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” as a contemporary coming-of-age film, and uses only footage from the original to make that real. It’s not a real movie, but it already seems better than much of what’s coming out this year! Watch the video after the click.

Real life “Up” house
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/sNBKrbM5mvs/
Sure, there’s no higher purpose to it, but sometimes things are so cool you just have to do it. In this video, a team of awesome people made a full-scale shell of a house and attached hundreds of helium balloons to the top. Amazingly, they achieve liftoff, and create a real life version of the house from “Up,” taking to the sky on balloon power. Heartwarming! Check out the video after the click.

Museum prank – King Philip IV
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/-zCl3OmayLE/
Some people get excited when they meet celebrities, no matter how minor he or she may be. It’s no surprise, then, that people were excited to get the autograph of King Philip IV last weekend in the Met Museum in New York, given that he was Spanish royalty —and should now be about 400 years old. Sadly, of course, the real King Philip IV couldn’t make it, and this was just the latest prank from the Improv Everywhere guys. It’s great to see the reactions, though! Winning – a Song by Charlie Sheen
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/qKDhTCqkhc4/
With any luck, this will be the last thing ever posted about Charlie Sheen on the internet. As they have a tendency to do, the YouTube sensation the Gregory Brothers have closed the case by introducing autotune to an otherwise decreasingly newsworthy event. In this case, we’re left with the pop gem “Winning,” sung — in a manner of speaking — by Mr. Sheen himself. Watch the video after the click.

Cyndi Lauper sings in the airport
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/ziYTrQAOzKc/
A hypothetical situation: you’re one of thousands of passengers stuck in a hot Latin American airport after flights across the board are canceled. People are getting restless, and starting to get angry. Most people might just try to stay calm, but Cyndi Lauper, faced with this situation last weekend, took matters into her own hands, commandeering an announcement microphone to lead the crowd in a calming singalong of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” It seemed to have the desired effect too — you can see the angry crowd soften and enjoy themselves as they start to sing along. At this point, the two kinds of people have defined their camps: there are those who can’t get enough of Charlie Sheen right now, and those who have already had enough. Whether you’re in the former or the latter group, this video of comedian Jimmy Fallon delivering a totally spot-on impersonation of the actor in some of his crazier moments might bring a smile to your face. Das Beer Boot
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/cbDjQ-WHadc/
In the physical world, stores tend to rely on natural human impulses to sell novelty items. Somebody might come across something, and pick it up in the moment without considering how useful it will be. Online stores are much more limited in this regard, and so if you want to sell a novelty item online, you have to bring the goods. That’s what Vat19 has done with this hilarious commercial for their new item, “Das Beer Boot.” Check out the video after the click.

Thom Yorke Smashes Dead Fish on Washer-Dryer
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/S18DssU3_pE/
Radiohead is one of the biggest bands in the world today, and it’s no surprise that they’re one of the biggest bands on the internet. Last month they had a double whammy, though: first, they release a surprise new album, announcing Monday that it would be released on Saturday. Then the video for Lotus Flower, which features frontman Thom Yorke dancing enthusiastically, went viral, being edited and morphed in a million ways. In this video, which is typical of the genre, an artist named “Smearballs” added some special effects so you could see what was behind the motions Yorke was making. Watch the video after the click.

Game Boy mystery

An “elaborate hoax” may not be the best phrase for it, but there’s certainly something interesting about YouTube celebrity Neil Cicierega’s examination of his childhood Gameboy. Not content to let the mystery hang in the air for too long, there’s already a thrilling conclusion linked from the video. This initial exploration is worth watching to get you thinking! Space Shuttle Launch: Viewed From an Airplane
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/WVERcbagh7U/
Flying can definitely be a hassle, especially when you have to contend with things like delayed flights. Sometimes the delays, though, can work out for the best — like when you end up in the air and in position to see a space shuttle launch. Even for people who have seen the launch from the ground before, catching it from the air is a pretty unique and amazing experience. Check out the video after the click.

String Theory
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogpiloten/~3/ZmYMG3vE-b0/
The internet is a best place in history for auto-didacts. Almost no matter the subject, you can teach yourself a little more about it online. Some subjects, though, resist these attempts to be learned — and crazy complex topics like string theory top the list. So it’s no wonder Jonathan Mann, who has actually been writing a song every day for three years now, has trouble with it. You can hear Jonathan’s take on string theory after the click.
