hardbloggingscientists @ EUROBLOG2006

Update: Check out Philip Young’s blog for his thoughts about the Euroblog2006 Symposium. He was the modertor of the second day and did a great job. He also has compiled a list of EuroBlog2006 bloggers.

There have been some fine hardblogging performances @ the EuroBlog2006 Symposium in Stuttgart last week. I have already blogged about Elizabeth Albrycht’s insightful key note [PDF], the viennese-style presentation [PDF] of the guys from knallgrau and my performance [PDF] in this blogpost. On Saturday morning Jan Schmidt kicked of the second day of the symposium with a very interesting talk [PDF] about the key findings of his “Wie ich blogge 2005” survey.

Jan during his presentation

Jan’s presentation made it once more clear to me how important it is to have researchers enter a new field of study not only with the adequate research questions, thereotical approaches and methodological tools but also with the passion of an active practitioner in the field of study: Don’t simply talk about blogs, be a blogger yourself!!!! That’s the true hardbloggingscientist philosophy. Well done, Jan! :-)

Unfortunately I can’t post a pic of my presentation yet because I am still waiting for Jan (hint! hint! ;-)) to send me the shots he took when I was presenting. So stay tuned for more hardbloggingscientist material!

In the meantime

And now: please meet two new fans of the hardbloggingscientist movement, Michael Schuster of knallgrau, Vienna, and Jan Schmidt of the University of Bamberg:

HSB-fan knallgrau

Doesn’t the hbs-button look nice on Michael? …

HSB-fan Jan Schmidt

and Jan as well? The button would also look nice on the next two guys!

On the right you can see Prof. Dr. Thomas Pleil of the University of applied sciences in Darmstadt where he holds a chair in Public Relations. With his students he has launched a very interessting wiki project focussing on public relations. The wiki can be found here. A PR-related blog by Thomas can be found here. In the photo you can see him talking to Olaf Nitz, a student at the Institute of Electronic Business, Berlin, and freelancer with knallgrau, Vienna. Olaf is currently working on his master thesis on social software in corporate communications. He writes about his work in this blog. His private blog can be found here. Unfortunately I ran out of hbs-buttons but I have already ordered supplies and will send them out asap.
